Lonely Feedback | A Looping Canvas & Soundscape for Electric Guitar

I always love laying down a guitar loop and then soloing over it. Sometimes the most simple ideas–that seem like nothing to start with–can grow into amazing harmonies and textures once you get a few layers going. This piece is part preconceived and part improvised. I came up with the title after the fact, and I think it really captures the mood and essence of the music. I actually like the title so much that I think I might have to write a concept album around it. Take a listen and let me know you think.

Piano Improv in Db | Just Keep Playing/Writing

With the bulk of the work from my album release completed, and the first single, Precious Air, now live everywhere (you can get it free by signing up for my newsletter here), I find myself inspired and ready to start working on more new music. What else is there to do but continue to create?

Step one for me is always improvising. I try to find the shortest route from my brain to the airwaves and for me, that involves sitting down at the piano and seeing what happens. Hope you enjoy this little improv in Db major.

Piano Improv in G Phrygian

Whenever I feel like I’m playing the “same old” over and over, I pick one of my favorite keys and use a different mode. I LOVE g minor, but it has started to feel predictable and stale because I end up falling back on muscle memory and “old” ideas. Nothing like a flat 2nd scale degree to shake things up a bit.

Until next time,

Bryan
